Fatih Yegul

Since the day I arrived in Canada, I have been an active volunteer for many community-based organizations. Canadians are passionate champions in giving back to society through volunteer work. This gave me inspiration, and now I don’t think I can feel meaning in my life without getting involved in some kind of philanthropic effort.

We know how important it is to build diverse, inclusive organizations – and we’ve seen the statistics indicate, time and time again, that diversity has a significant positive impact on the bottom line.

How do I know if governance training is right for me?

Our self-paced training courses address governance fundamentals as well as more advanced topics, suitable for both emerging and experienced directors. Our courses cover the essentials of board governance, inclusive leadership, governance through the stages of board maturity, understanding unconscious bias and the board, as well as resources to support your learning development.

I have completed the training; can you help me identify available board opportunities?

Our board-matching portal is easy to use and lists available board opportunities that match your skills, interests, location, and more.

Can onBoard Canada help our board become more inclusive?

Yes, in fact our board-matching is comprised of individuals from all groups. All candidates in our program have completed the Board Fundamentals governance training and are matched to your position based on the skills you need.

While I knew I wanted to be on a board in Hamilton, I didn’t have much knowledge of boards or how they worked. The educational aspect of the program really appealed to me, and so I decided to get involved.

on Organization Matching

onBoard Canada allowed the Agency to identify its requirements, and provided a ranking of individuals suitable for the roles for which we were recruiting. Through onBoard Canada, Hope 24/7 was able to access talent it would not have otherwise reached.

I set myself a target of sitting on the boards of two organizations. And after about a year, here I am being appointed to boards of two wonderful organizations that proved to be leaders in their fields.
