Board Matching for Organizations

Board matching services for organizations are currently available in the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, Windsor, and London.

Our board matching program is designed to connect you, the not-for-profit or charitable organization, or an agency of the municipal, provincial and federal government with screened, qualified, and trained individuals who are ready to serve in various roles on your governance boards and committees.

Why inclusion in governance?

More inclusion equals better governance. A diverse and inclusive not-for-profit or public board has clear advantages.

A board that reflects the people it serves is more authentic and responsive to community needs. Inclusive leadership improves social cohesion, enhances the sense of belonging, and ensures more civic participation, which in turn leads to healthier communities and more effective organizations.

Why onBoard Canada?

As of 2018, our board matching program has facilitated more than 1,000 board appointments, with a network of over 900 organizations and more than 1,800 trained individuals. In 2011, the program was recognized as a leader in its field with an Intercultural Innovation Award by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the BMW Group.

How it Works

Register

  • Create a profile for your organization in the My onBoard portal using a readily accessible email address.
  • Once your profile is complete, our staff will contact you to confirm your operating budget range, discuss your subscription options, and provide you with a voucher code to pay your respective fee rate.
  • Payment is then completed by credit card online through your profile or via invoice. Once payment is complete your profile will be entered into the matching portal.

Posting a Board Vacancy

  • The next step is to post a board position. The online form allows you to outline the skills and experience your position requires and any extra application information.
  • Our system will then generate the best matches for you based on candidate profiles in the database and allow you to view their profiles and resumes.
  • Candidates will then be able to view your posting and apply. You can contact the individuals directly and engage with them through your own review and selection process.
  • Should you make an appointment through our database or otherwise, contact us so that we can remove the vacancy from our system.

Training for Organizations

  • Access our unique online training course “Embedding Diversity and Inclusion into an Organization” through the learning portal located in your profile. This training can be taken by anyone on your senior leadership team or board. You have unlimited course uses.
  • Stay tuned for upcoming webinars and view past webinar recordings. Subscribing organizations will be provided free access to live webinars and recordings for their board members and staff.

Stay Involved

  • We encourage you to attend local onBoard Canada events which will enable you to keep up to date on issues and trends in governance and network with candidates.
